Channel CH is the east channel, this is the preferred or best marked channel it begins to the east of Fox Island, leading south to Harrington Narrows. CH joins the main channel at approximately mile 126.3 and is marked by bifurcation buoy GRG CH. The CH channel angles SE Harrington Narrows and into Chemong Lake. Channel CE (west) begins to the west of Fox Island, then leading south down to Harrington Narrows and the entrance to Chemong Lake. Your course is well marked clearing a number of small shoals generally heading for off Coppaway Point where markers CH5 and CH4 when coming down the eastern route. Remember you will pass between them as normal (red right returning). Now you merge with the CE Channel to continue into Chemong Lake. Lake ChemongHarrington NarrowsCAUTIONS
There is a large shoal and weed bed, sometimes awash. Midway between the CE and CH channels immediately north of the entrance to Harrington Narrows. Pilings exist close off south west shore of Harrington Narrows approximately 0.2 miles east of Spencers Point. Watch your wash, many small boats are moored in the narrows. On the north west point is a trailer park with a public park beside it which does not allow any dockage for transients. Across the narrows to the east of the narrows you will usually find a couple of houseboats and small craft at the Curve Lake Marina. However the marina has little but emergency fuel for the passing cruiser. |
