In buying Miranda you end up paying for the engines and get a boat in average to better than average condition, possibly one of the best of the classic woodies left.
For more on current condition visit this page......

Prospective purchasers should be aware that as with all 35 year old boats there will be maintenance required each year. On the other hand there is no reason that the vessel could not be used for many years to come given ongoing attention.

Miranda Leigh is looking for a proper home with an owner who will care for her. Miranda Leigh is a well maintained classic Trojan 31 which has had regular upgrading and tender loving care from hands on owners. Family time constraints prevent owner from continuing boating.

The owner commissioned a complete inspection and rebuild with a local legendary engine re builder who did the entire number on the engines. They should be considered almost better than new. Non visible testing was conducted on all components with one cylinder head and ALL exhaust manifolds being replaced. These are the real thing with external remote oil filters and much TLC.

Trojan 31 salon

This is not a fire sale! Nor are bargain hunters welcome to tire kick. If you do not know what sort of boat you want, please do not bother. This is not a perfect family boat, she is a classic sports fisherman representing one of the best preserved examples I know of. She was designed to get to the fish grounds quickly even in rough water while on plane. Although much older she has a strong spirit about her. Her deck level station is a few steps above the galley with a self draining cockpit aft & fly bridge above.

Aft cockpit

Once there her aft deck is large and a pleasure to enjoy an afternoon rod in hand or to swim from. Miranda Leigh would love to retire with someone who will use her. Miranda Leigh comes with an amazing supply of spare parts collected over the years and is maintainable on an ongoing basis

At this time she is on the hard inside storage undergoing replacement of the forward starboard side upright. Her hull is sound and with the exception current repair underway is in the same or better condition than the photographs indicate. A suitable owner should appreciate mechanical quality and be a bit of a handyman with wood as there will always be a degree of ongoing maintenance.

The offered price requires you adequately convince owner that you have the skill and resources required to continue to maintain the vessel in serviceable condition. That the selected purchase is on a first come first served basis, as is - where is, at the time you view the vessel, fully understanding that the lack of time is the reason for selling her, so completing the woodwork underway (with some assistance) would be a big plus. The right of refusal resides with the owner with no attempt made to conceal the work being undertaken from prospective purchasers.

If you need to arrange financing, save your time as a bank will not touch an old wooden boat. You must be able to allocate 2 or three weeks a year to work on her, allocating at least $ 3,000 a year to keep her. This is not a guarantee of yearly costs, only a base guideline.

This is a vessel which will require the new owner to do ongoing maintainance work. You do it a week a spring and enjoy it, a bit each year.
