This could well be the last Blog for a while. the Tosiba laptop is getting quite sick and I suspect that a bad power supply has damaged the video card. This is pretty bad and I have spent Sunday backing up data and trying to get the editor configured to use when this goes to the doctor. The weather has turned cold and only the hardy are wearing shorts. John and Dingo sailed west on Thursday which leaves only Dave, Mike and myself as residents. The marina is very quiet and boats are begining to be hauled and stowed. Cruising Canada, has now finalized plans for the 2006 - 2007 winter. Defiance will move to winter harbour in Belleville, and I will rent Tony's old shop on Ben Gill Road so plan "A" is taking a small shop and not getting too greedy as far as work load working on quality and customer satisfaction. |
![]() The new shop It is roughly 15 or 20 minutes south of from Belleville and will serve as a shop and office space. I will be glad to get all the lay up tables and works stuff set up again and get a functional shop of my own with none of this Waupoos hassle. The new property also has a lot of room for outside storage available and I can see a lot of winter working on a hydralic trailer. ![]() The shop is not huge but provides a 20' by 35' large work area, an office, upholstery racks, and a couple of garage sized bays. It has been a boat shop for many years and is properly zoned etc. Cruising Canada already has a number of interesting projects planed and anticipate swinging the first grinder for profit in the new place by the end of October. |

Thursday night was quite warm and I had a chance to do an extended cat walk with Sweetie and Serindipidy. We are such good friends and they are so happy on the back fourty where the grass is long and hunting plentful. It is so relaxing to spend an hour at a cat pace with the sinking yellow sun warming everything that it touches. After much soul searching and discussion with Dr. Terry the vet of record I have decided not to try to relocate them to the new shop in case they try to return here to the marina. Somehow I will try to arrange for partial support of my feline friends.

September 2006:
Defiance is about sustainable live aboard. There is nothing we can do about fuel prices, but I have focused on making Defiance energy efficient on the long term. This summer was all about keeping up the maintenance and improving redundency while servicing all the water pumps on Defiance. The engine cooling systems primary 671, and Entac generator are rebuilt while the house fresh water, and aft scavange pumps have also had the benifit of complete rebuild kits. The engine pumps were machined as required, new impellers fitted and a spare impellers with source recorded in stock. Visit Defiance |
