The remains of Ernesto arrived Saturday night with far less rain and wind than out US neighbors experience thanks to a the high which shielded us to some extent. The center of the low has now moved east over the StLawrence and La Belle Province will be getting the the It did rain cats and dogs and was windy, but nothing like anticipated. It is 06:10 EDT and the rain has subsided to a constant curtain which is still driven hard with a stiff breeze. Rufus is once again out for his AM prowl and was soaked in a minute of two. But that's Rufus wet does not seem to bother him much, or at least not as much as having spent the last 18 hours locked on board.

I started Saturday by finishing the Glenora Marina transom/stringer/floor job, before the day got too wet and had Defiance all snugged down by noon. This is a perfect example of the proper repair and anyone with problems with their transom or floors should look at these pages to see why it costs so much to fix softness right.

This is the weekend of the Wright Tractor Pull which is an event that should not be missed. Rain or shine the show and party go on. The rain arrived approximately 13:00 and by the time I made the pull dressed in full rain gear it was raining steadily. The pull is as much fun in the wet as wheel stands are replaced by mud chunks and slippery conditions making for a great equalizer to the good drivers.

The evening was filled with the barn dance with John and Verra once again headlining the festivities. A lot of beer was drunk and without a doubt one of the highlight of the Waupoos social season.

The bad weather is just south of Lake Ontario and I will go the mile and take the aft deck cover off, secure the last of anything loose and rig the dinghy for rain.

Tomorrow will be a nice day and then Ernesto is comming and by all reports it will be wet and a little voice in my head says one should batten the hatches here in Waupoos. The tract is further west than we usually see and it depends on how much the Americas take out of its punch. What is known is that there will be a clash of it's low and a Arctic high just south of the Great Lakes.

This week has been all about wrapping up jobs so that I can hit the road next week as time for my decision is growing short. Not without options. Just short of time. So much will depend on exactly which of the winter jobs I decide to take on, and which is the best deal long term. But for now it is wrap up everything and get Defiance perfect.

So much to do and such a time frame. It is September and the weather will deteriorate soon and Defiance will once again earn passage to our winter sanctuary. I still have not water tested the fuel as I always get condensation in the tanks on Defiance and deal with water in the tank as a matter of practice. The process and solutions are simple and getting more repeatable as a matter of normal maintenance. First we need a whack of fuel conditioner and a little rough day sail to stir things up. Then starting tomorrow I will carry 4 jerry cans and start to take on travel and winter fuel 10 gallons at a time.

The Glenora Marine will be all but finished tomorrow and I do not believe that there is anyone who could have done a better job, price or no price. Thursday was scheduled for matting the floor but we spent the day flushing our the floor edges and messing with making hatches. Friday we will do the floor glass party and then with the exception of any touch up the job is done.

Is this my new home? Looks good.
