This will be the week Ontario catches the tail of the first hurricane of 2006. Erensto is currently hitting the Florida Keys and expected to ride up the eastern seaboard which by my estimate should see the effects around the weekend. Although now downgraded years of experience have taught me that the weather systems that get dragged along with a tropical storm always have an effect on the Great Lakes.

WORK: We got the first layer of fiberglass mat on the stringers of the Glenora Vanguard yesterday and the job is going according to plan and looking very good. I was little under in my time estimate (roughly 10%), but as we progress the job has also become more complex than originally discussed. The plan is to have it finished this week.

With the rain it has been difficult to get back up to speed on Wakaura, the Wharram cat. I have the starboard aft cabin corner repaired and the unset epoxy (not my doing) dug out and a first layer of matt on the sides with the second hatch taped.

The cool weather and rain has been slowing things down and I am thankful for one inside job. Life at Waupoos goes on and Rufus has taken to spending more time aboard that high summer. The cats, all the cats are going to feel this impending move as without me living here Sweetie and Serri will have to fend for themselves for the winter. Sometime this week I will start on the insulated "cat house" which I will leave in the orange building for them. Rufus will just have to adjust to a new harbor.

August 26 & 27, 2006
The weather is markedly cooler and wet to where it is possible to work in long pants again which will help a lot in the next stretch of work.
Saturday night was party night aboard Defiance as we entertained George and Harry form an Allied Seawind. By the time the evening hit full steam there were 7 people in the salon and George displayed his most amazing skill on the harp. The two of the guys together are pretty amazing and a lot of beer got drunk.
