Wednesday June 27Final daytime temperature 31 C. high humidity. It was another hot day and the shop was already hot before noon, becoming unbearable by early PM. I got an early start and had another short day on the skiff only getting in 2.5 hours. The skiff project is going pretty much according to plan and I routinely move forward at least a frame a day making required repairs as I go. ![]() As usual the day starts by removing the clamps and sanding out the repair. That is frame Q done and 4 more backing blocks in place which pretty much sees the stern ready. ![]() ![]()
![]() The rest of the day was spent blocking the belly of the skiff in order to facilitate closing up the crack as much as possible while keeping the bilge lines sweet. It may not look like much but these two midships blocks determine the twist of the hull and area all critical.
I begin the day by un clamping last nights work and sanding out the repair. For now I have decided not to prime as I go as I consider epoxy coating the entire bottom. Wednesday was good with 4 blocks glued up and another frame repaired. The bad news is that removal of the old ring nails will not work as they want to split the wood.
I made it back to the boat mid afternoon and found Rufus in his summer shade porch. The boy has it figured out with a comfortable lounging spot in the bushes beside the dock ramp where he almost hanging over the water and catches both the shade and cool wind from the lake. Smart cat. Rufus does know the sound of my voice and as I get home there is this little mew from the bushes and a sleepy cat comes up to visit. ![]() The traditional 47' Tancook schooner Sarah B arrived in harbour with its captain and crew. The interesting boat is a fledgling co-op for those of you who dream of sailing on traditional schooners. You can visit the Sarah B web site here.

The key planks went in OK and I got 3 more backing blocks glued and 4 nail holes filled. Right is a pile of plugs ready for gluing. It really was not that hot but my shoulder has been hurting so I called it quits after getting in three blocks and spent a little time on Defiance.
Tamarack came by and had some pictures of the super stairs he is building on the side of a cliff. He also had a picture of a new born fawn he had rescued from a dog, and of course released not far away after dealing with the dog. Thursday, June 28
