The promised rain has come and our summer weather has turned wet. Unfortunately it does not deter the bugs much.
I finally got the little utility trailer hitch installed Friday and on Saturday I got the lights working. The little hitch is pretty solid and fits wide out on the car making as satisfactory a package as you can put on a four cylinder wagon. It’s not much but good suspension and 15” tires and with a bit of welding it will do perfectly.
The County brings out the red neck cowgirl in me. As the years have passed more and more friends are building stables. This little, and I mean tiny barley more than a pony Arab is the latest addition. The problem was that none of the tack fitted and he lost his halter leading to a sprint that managed to provide a moment of humor. However not bad and she was easy to catch and actually calmed down almost immediately.
Defiance is my next focus. There is no avoiding the medical facts so getting things whipped into shape for a new owner must be my priority. The dock was quiet so I managed to do deep sand on half the lazarette bulwark and get it primed before the swarms of bugs once again threatened and I had to quit. Equally I am half way there as far as the bulwarks are concerned.
Rufus enjoys his time ashore and we spend more time on the north edge of the marina than before enjoying the excellent frog hunting afforded by the non irrigated pond that graces the back 40.
