Now that I have adjusted to urban living my visits have the most calming effect on the frayed nerves of a tech support. There is nothing quite as good as a day with Defiance the boatyard cats in Waupoos. Waupoos Marina's Blue Moose stands a lonley vigil these days. Waupoos channel and Smiths Bay to the south gleaming in the bright sun. This was a extremely beautiful place to live and I am thankful for having had the opportunity. It may not be quite as good as living aboard, but it is a wonderful cottage in the country and an afternoon aboard, hanging out with County friends is better than a trip south. Waupoos Marina is asleap at tthe moment with only Rick around, the cats have settled into a comfortable existance aboard Defiance. Most of the boats are nestled snuggly with only a few cover casualities of the winter storms to date. Not a year ago, this wall was our home. To visit us in the ice last year
There are very few recreational boats that you could have attempted freezing in at Waupoos with, Defiance made it easy. The wall is empty now and Rufus a urban cat. Now in 2008,years later they are the custodians of Defiance. |

As I pulled up to Defiance Serindipidy (Mom Feral) was a taking in the warm sun on the porch while Sweetie was quick to jump down from the dock pile to say hello with a series of cat rolls before she bounced accross the snow to greet me by the stairs. Sweetie hung out for a few miniutes on the porch before ducking inside to welcome me home.
The Espar frunace is an amazing thing taking Defiance from a summertime to to an all weather cottage. There is nothing as comforting as a loving cat and beautiful cottage in the snow to sooth the streessed nevers of an off duty support tech. I will truly miss this refuge if Defiance finds a new home in spite of accepting the inevetability of the decision to move ashore for my health.
This winter is scheduled maintainance and life ashore, with only the cats in charge. Sweetie is the black and white one lived with us for a little over a year while Serendipity the gray and white one is the mom. This wonderful cat used to take all four of he kittens hunting fish from the break wall when I arrived at Waupoos, and is a constant companion when I ever work in the yard.
As shown left from a 2005 are the feral s getting a hunting lesson on that feral s. Defiance is amazing by remaining nearly alive in this sleep mode. |
Not a sign of a rodent or any critter but the cats who are marvelous housesitters with very little collertal mess considereing they live in a boatyard and spend a lot of time outside.Curiously enough they seem to prefer the kibble form the automatic feeder than from the open dish even though they do not eat all that much. Sweetie has a lush black and white coat and provides massive amounts of cat love during my visits, while mom is more reserved with little more than a welcome before disspeaing. With an offer for Defiacne on the table I worry about the future of my now resident boatyard cats.
