REMEMBER:

You are navigating a boat.
Not driving a car.

All Navigation is based on standard measurements of distance and time.

Distances referred to in navigation manuals and tables are based on these measures.

Time is expressed as ZULU which is Grenwich Mean Time

KNOTS refer to nautical miles per hour

ONE NAUTICAL MILE equals ONE MINUTE OF LATITUDE at the equator.

MPH or miles per hour refers to statute miles per hour.

Canada, Europe and most of the world except for the USA mark their waterways and highways with signs in kph or km/hr , meaning kilometres per hour.

For correct quick reference a kilometer is roughly 5/8 th. or to be more exact 0.622 of a statute mile
