Misty River is a heavily laid up fiberglass boat by one of the industry premier and best loved brands CARVER. . She is sweet and solid, currently sitting in storage at the shop in 19 km from Belleville. You simply can't buy a new boat this good. Spend your money on boating not interest, while burning less than a half the fuel todays boats of the same size use. This fly bridge vessel is a low-profile coastal and inland fisherman with SPACIOUS cockpit and interior accommodations

Power drive train:
Ford single 255 HP engine with closed cooling (heat exchanger) with the entire instulation and condition that of a custom car. The power is transmitted through a rebuilt V drive and SS shaft to a healthy propeller. This arrangement allows for more useable interior space and allowing the engine room to be self contained. There are designed in factory trim tabs moulded into the hull. All appear in very good condition.

Performance:
Misty River is fast enough (22 mph reported) to make the open part of a Duck passage in a half hour, yet tough enough to get you home from mid lake if the bottom drops out of the weather. With the single pre emmission ford you will burn only a small fraction of the fuel of todays twin engine, emission strangled monsters.

The last survey states that there is no signs of osmoses, blistering, or de laminating and that this vessel is in good condition, has been well constructed and maintained throughout her career. The engine has good compression, starts easily and runs well. The transmission and gear work and shift flawlessly. The prior owner has replaced almost all accessories, as well as new belts and marine compliant hoses. It was his objective to make her as reliable and safe as possible as in Georgian Bay. The boat has the feel of a classic car with just enough wood to feel right.

The 120 shore power wising and breaker panel are new. All 12 V wiring is orderly and in good shape with two new AGM completely sealed batteries ( $350.00 ) each. THere are complete wiring diagrams for all systems. The 351 motor is also equipped with a new Mallory breaker less high energy distributor. There are no tankageissues and the bilges are spotless.

Overall the boat is neat as a pin with great attention spent on fine detail. The age of the hull is an advantage as this ie heavy early fiberglass that is easy to repair and much heavier than anything you will find produced in a boat of this size today. The single engine giving you planing speeds and very economical operation, probably in the range 60% less fuel consumption than a twin of the same size as you are not lifting that extra weight.

For Sale Update August 16, 2009

SOLD !

Commissioning:
At this time of the season and with the weather i would not even bother to do the bottom paint. To prepare the engine after storage I would recommend changing the oil, and primimg* the engine before start. To make sure it did NOT start for those several tries, perhaps 5 min in total. It is recommend to disconnecting the coil wire when priming to prevemnt an accidental start. Then turn the motor over long enough for all the oil to get back up and through all the galleries and bearings before i put the fire to it.

Move & Launch:
The boat will have to be moved via hyd trailer from where it is to your location.
Approx 18 months ago it cost $700 to bring it from Penetanguishine 700k, and there are several people around who have big enough trailers so moving it will not be a problem and i negotiating room in prices. I would be very surprised if it cost more than $500 to get the boat in the water locally. Further standard distance rates would apply. But not a big deal. The batteries are inside stored although it has been three months since i put a charger on them, i would expect them to be good as they are high end marine stored properly.

Misty River comes with a superior steel framed winter cover.

SOLD !

Winter Storage 2008 / 2009

Misty River sits at the shop roughly twenty kilometers from Belleville. The boat is now wrapped in its superior winter cover and fully prepared for -40. There is high security as she sits in plain view of our neighbours main window and this is the County not suberbia.

The winter cover itself is a marvelous piece of work. It is nicely fabricated with steel frames that bolt together. Once bolted together you do the spiders nest of over 500' of lashing to secure it to the boat and it is time to start the task of getting the main super duty tarp to the top of the frame. IT is a primo tarp weighing in excess of two hundred pounds. Overall a pretty good winter cover to erect taking 2 people perhaps 4 to 5 hours.

Or so much for the brag of a superior winter cover..     Next the test.

Summer July 14, 2009 update: All is well and the shed is not getting too hot still providing an excellect storage space. You cannot uunderestimate the value of a goor winter storage system for your boat in Canada.

You must understand this is the good old boat parked in the middle of a farmers field. Do not expect any marina facilities or washrooms. This is isolated and protected by 60 years on the property farmers.

I made the teck to Misty River to check for damage after the 120+ winds. It was dark when I arrived at Ben Gill but still quite warm which was a gift as the next hour was spent retying lines. Some of the 1/8" nylon and 1/4 propylene (see picts.) broke making the decision to use 3/8" & 1/2" for the main lashings correct. The south side tarp was wearing thin, but has since been had backer tarp installed and the entire structure reappraised and resecured.
